Jack Collins

Jack Collins was born and raised in Cork, Ireland’s second-largest city. He still lives and works in Cork city to this day, in the shadow of one of Ireland’s most architecturally-significant Art Deco buildings, Church of Christ the King, Turner’s Cross.

Having originally studied architecture at undergraduate level and a master’s degree in Management and Marketing, Jack made the decision to follow his passion in 2013 to pursue a full-time career as a graphic designer and artist. Having worked for a large in-house design studio for almost 8 years, Jack Collins art + design Ltd began in 2020 with Jack making the move to full time freelance work in March 2021.

Dipping his toe in the water, Jack began his graphics career designing concert posters; however, since then has diversified across a range of media, with a particular fondness for illustration and branding. Jack’s technical training in architecture has influenced his illustration style, with many of his digital illustrations featuring precise, stylised elevations of local landmarks.

Stylus, paintbrush or pencil, Jack’s work spans a range of disciplines and techniques from life drawing to motion graphics. He is a keen portrait artist, painting classical-style portraits, many of which have been exhibited.

When he’s not painting, drawing or designing, Jack can be found in the kitchen or at the barbecue cooking up a storm, attempting to make sourdough bread to varying levels of success, listening to music fanatically and attempting to learn the solos to Messin’ with the Kid by Rory Gallagher on the guitar.
